Hannah and Alex were married at Wotton House, a beautiful country house hotel in the Surrey Hills. I photograph weddings all over the country but it always a pleasure to be here as a Surrey wedding photographer. With endless options for photography, it was possible to choose spaces for portraits with the best lighting. I usually split my couples portraits into two short sessions, one before the wedding breakfast and one after when the sun is lower in the sky and the light is lovely and warm.
Wotton House has wonderful Italian gardens with portico buildings that provide plenty of open shade. Perfect for portraits when the sun is harsh earlier in the day. Hannah and Alex were great to work with. They are in that season of life when they are both working really hard and with two young boys, every moment together seems precious. A wedding day flies by so fast it’s super important to have some time together just to relax and take it all it in.

Later on in the day, the Turtle House garden had the most beautiful light. I loved this secluded spot for some more romantic portraits. Hannah and Alex spent this time giggling and telling jokes and of course kissing whenever they could! I couldn’t resist the way the late afternoon sun lit up the old brickwork of the walled garden.
