Platt Lane and Quarry Bank Mill – Wedding Photography in Manchester

Back in May, I headed to Holy Trinity Church on Platt Lane for some wedding photography in Manchester. You may recognise Clare and Jon from their engagement shoot in the Peak District. I now get to share their wedding day and show you how they said “I do” with style.

Holy Trinity Platt Church

Clare and Jon met at church and this part of the day was always going to be hugely important to them. However, they both stayed very relaxed and there was plenty of time for light hearted moments, especially with Jon and his best men. You’ve got to admire the ‘plane’ socks too! Clare arrived early looking completely amazing in her dress from Puure bridal. There was a tear or two as she walked down the aisle but other than that the ceremony was full of joy and of course love. I have to say I thought the vicar did a superb job. This was shortly after the Manchester bomb attack and with a large police presence very near to the church it would have been strange if he hadn’t talked about it in the service at some point. He managed to do so while keeping the message one of hope and love. It was a beautiful service.

Quarry Bank Mill

There was a bit of time for some Frisbee outside the church then it was onto Quarry Bank Mill for a reception. This is an amazing venue for wedding photographs and I love the gardens here. The rain held off for some drinks outside and then we broke out the umbrella for some colourful portraits. We managed to squeeze in a few minutes for some pictures in the cotton mill before Clare and Jon joined their guests for the wedding breakfast. There were speeches before and after the meal and Clare and Jon had arranged special jobs for one guest on each table. They were supplied with aprons, ladles and hats and asked to serve the rest of their table. It was a brilliant idea that gave the meal a lovely family feel and got everyone chatting.

The Ceilidh

Later on Clare and Jon cut their cake and the party started in earnest with a ceilidh. The band were great and I love the way they always get everyone dancing whether they like it or not. Everyone danced with everyone else and there was a lot of laughter. As you can see Clare and Jon had an amazing day and I wish them all the best for a blissful future together.
