September saw me return for an Abbeywood Estate wedding that couldn’t have been more perfect. Karla and Chris had the most beautiful day. I’ve made it no secret that this is one of my absolute favourite venues. The gardens are so stunning and it’s always a joy to visit wedding or not!
Karla planned this wedding to perfection and it was all amazing. She even managed to get her outdoor ceremony which wasn’t a certainty until the morning of the wedding. In the end, it was ideal. Some cloud cover for the ceremony, which is perfect for us photographers as well as keeping your guests from melting in the heat. Then the sun came out so everyone could enjoy the gardens all-day, followed by a glorious evening with perfect light for photography.
Karla got ready at the Hollies Lodges just a short distance away and spent the morning with her bridesmaids getting pampered. She looked so perfect in her dress and so tiny! A real fairytale bride. Chris didn’t scrub up too badly either as he got ready at Abbeywood in one of the estate cottages. My good friend and wonderful second shooter for this occasion, Emma Hillier, caught up with the boys there.

I love outdoor ceremonies and this was no exception as the grooms posed using each a mens wedding ring from the latest collection. The ceremony took place in the middle of the lawn with a stunning backdrop of rolling Cheshire countryside. The vows were sweet and sincere with just a few happy tears. Guests then enjoyed canapes on the lawn with a string quartet in the background. Afterwards, Karla and Chris took a few minutes for some photos by themselves and we headed into the woods for some peaceful moments.
The reception was in the glasshouse at Abbeywood which always looks amazing surrounded by the beautiful flowerbeds. The food was delicious and the speeches just right. A special mention also goes to the cake. Chris is an avid fisherman so the decorations on this cake were both perfect and personal. There was plenty of time for more photographs after dinner as the afternoon turned into evening and the light became all golden. We took advantage of the lovely light and toured the gardens before heading back into the reception. Karla and Chris began the evening with a gorgeous choreographed first dance. Then Marc Kenny had everyone on their feet for a brilliant party. I also couldn’t fail to mention the mobile pizza kitchen which served the most delicious pizza I think I’ve ever had!
All in all a momentous day, the memories of which I hope Karla and Chris will treasure forever. Congratulations guys!
