Megan and Shawn decided nothing would stop them from getting married and went ahead with their Styal Lodge wedding in October of 2020. It may not have been exactly the wedding they had planned but it was still an amazing day and they made some awesome memories.
Megan and Shawn had decided to go ahead with just 30 guests but with just over a week to go the government announced that the limit on weddings was just 15 people. Argh! But, they’d waited long enough and so with all the precautions in place they went ahead anyway. You know what? It was fabulous and the most important thing is that they are now husband and wife!
Bridal Preparations at Home
The day began at Megan’s parent’s house where the girls gathered to get ready. Megan looked completely fabulous in her Morilee dress from Robertas Bridal.
Styal Lodge Wedding Ceremony
At Styal Lodge, I met up with Shawn and his two best men. You may recognise one of them from a previous wedding!
The lodge itself looked fabulous as always. I love all the twinkly lights at this venue and the ceremony set up looked so lovely. The ceremony itself was beautiful and honest. It included readings via video link from friends who couldn’t be there.
Even with just 15 guests, you can still get covered in confetti!
Megan chose a red wine theme which suited the season perfectly. Her Mum and Godmother did an amazing job with the flowers and I particularly loved the red flowers in Megan’s dark hair.
Styal Lodge Wedding Reception
The reception looked amazing with gorgeous LOVE letters from The Word is Love.
The one good thing about a micro wedding is that there is loads of extra time for photos! We had plenty of time for family photos and portraits in the garden. Then later we were able to go down the lake and head out again when the sun was low in the sky.
I did miss the dancing! Megan and Shawn still had their first dance but it was strange when no one could join in. We did get everyone outside for sparklers though which is always lots of fun and I have to admit slightly less dangerous with just 15!
All in all, it was the most fabulous day and one that Megan and Shawn will remember for so many wonderful reasons. The masks and restrictions were a part of the day to be sure but they didn’t lessen the joy or love. They pulled it off in style!
